Weddings in Sonoma

I had another great wedding with The Depot Hotel Restaurant and Garden in Sonoma a week ago with another one coming up there in a few more weeks. Gia and her staff at The Depot are a great team to work with for me as the DJ and for the client.

This was during dinner when everyone was seated after the ceremony in front of the fireplace and waiting to continue the reception. If you're looking at venues in Sonoma check out The Depot and let Gia know you read it from DJ Mike Parent.

If you are looking for a DJ for your wedding go to and email me at I have some open dates coming up and would like to do some more weddings especially in my local area in the East Bay areas around Danville, San Ramon, Dublin, Pleasanton, Walnut Creek and Livermore, CA.

I would love to hear from you about what you are looking for in a DJ. What are you looking for when you talk to or meet with a DJ? What are the main concerns you have when considering a DJ? More often now I find couples who are looking for someone who can remove their concerns about planning, time lines, coordination and more. I often handle the time line management and coordination with the venue or caterer and other vendors; as well as announcements and introductions. Let me know what you are looking for or what did sway your decision when hiring a DJ and how it worked for you.

2014 - More Weddings and catching up with old friends.

2014 has begun with a number of new wedding requests including more visits to The Depot Hotel in Sonoma on the way. If your wedding is coming up and you are looking for a DJ check out my website at and email me at
As a reminder, I am based in Danville, CA near quite a few wonderful wedding and event venues.

I also have been catching up with another old friend from my days on the radio in Maryland. I was on WINX in Rockville, MD near Washington, D.C. and had the pleasure and privilege to work with Larry Burnett. I was still a newbie as far as on-air experience and Larry was a total class act walking me through things at the station, giving me tips, and making me comfortable as I went on live for the first time at WINX.
If you don't know, Larry was one of the original members of the group Firefall. He also has some solo music from the last few years you can find on iTunes and other places. I look forward to catching up further with him soon and wish him all the best.

East Bay Wedding DJ'd and Internet Radio

This weekend I was the DJ for a nice wedding in Walnut Creek, CA in the East Bay. We had a couple of guitarists play during the ceremony and they sounded great through my Bose L1 Model 1 system. It was a fantastic evening with a nice ceremony and fun reception.

I have added the ability to set up my speakers wirelessly and they sound wonderful, even from another room. I will only do a wireless speaker set up as needed but it gives me more options with some of the less than optimal positioning of the DJ at some locations.

As we wind down the summer I have some available dates in the second half of 2013 if you find yourself in need of a professional DJ for your wedding or other special event. For more information email me at and got to

On another note, if you have listened to my Internet Radio Station at I would love to hear your thoughts. It stands for More than 40 Years of More Than Top 40 and includes tunes from the 1950's through current music. The hosting company has had recent server issues which caused the station to repeat or misplay songs. It appears to be running better at this writing and hopefully has been resolved. If you did listen while it was messed up I'm sorry about that, though it wasn't my system messing it up, and ask you to try again and let me know your thoughts.

What other information would you like to read about related to weddings, DJ's, music, or related topics? Let me know.

Spring Weddings in Wine Country and Beyond

Spring has sprung and the Spring Wedding Season is in bloom.
Last week had me in Livermore, CA at a very nice wedding ceremony and reception. Both were held indoors and even so we were fortunate that there was nice weather for arrivals, departures and hanging out in the courtyard for photos and a break for guests during the cocktail hour.
While I still have weddings coming up in Sonoma I am finding myself in Livermore more these days. Since I'm based in Danville the Livermore weddings are more local. I look forward to having more connections with people and venues in Danville, Blackhawk, San Ramon, Pleasanton and Dublin.
We did something different with the introductions this time. We introduced the groomsmen and the bridesmaids separately rather than as couples. I'm happy to work with you to make your day reflect your personality and vision for the day.
I would love to hear what is most important to you when planning your wedding. What things do you look for and consider when searching for vendors to work with on your special and important day?
Let me know your thoughts and needs at and find out more at

Busy Fall Wedding DJ Season in the East Bay

It's been a busy fall wedding season here in the East Bay. I've had weddings to DJ in San Ramon, Benicia, Livermore and Oakland California recently. Some of them included the ceremony where I provided music and wireless microphones for the officiant and readings.

Along with a celebrity family member at one of the recent weddings I've been fortunate to work with a number of great couples, families and venues. I have also gotten some wonderful reviews added to my and listings. You can see them if you look for DJ Mike Parent on either of those sites and I have copied some of them to my website at

As I am starting to book some wedding dj dates for the spring and summer of 2013 I do have some open dates for the rest of this year and the winter heading into 2013.

Let me know if you have any questions that you would like answered as part of my wedding planning tips here on the blog.

One helpful tip when planning your wedding and looking for your DJ or entertainment is to talk about the specific needs relative to your locations for the ceremony, cocktail hour and reception. This is part of the reason it's good to meet to talk about your plans to get the correct details down for your services agreement.
Do you need DJ services for all three? Ceremony, Cocktails and Reception
Will extra equipment or equipment moves be needed to provide services for different areas for the ceremony, cocktails and/or reception? People sometimes forget to account for the cocktail hour if it is in an area separate from the ceremony or reception area and would need a separate sound system set up.
What time is everything scheduled? Do you want music as people arrive prior to the scheduled start time?

Please visit for more information about my wedding and event services. Also email me at to set up a time to talk about your plans and service needs. I look forward to working with you on your most special event.

End of Summer Wedding Season

It was a busy but great August with some fun weddings around the Bay Area from Oakland to San Ramon to Livermore. Fortunately the weather cooperated for an outdoor wedding also which had a slideshow that went very well as we started just after sunset.

Now we are into a relatively quiet September with a busy October ahead. There are still a few dates open for the remainder of the 2012 calendar while 2013 is starting to book.

Go to for more information about me and my services. Then email me about availability and services. Be sure to include as much information about your plans as possible so that I can give you a good quote when we talk about your plans. My email is

My packages include the use of wireless microphones (1 lapel and 1 handheld with another lapel and handheld available as add-ons) and standard lighting (with upgrades available).
